1. Clothing, Equipment and Shoes
Please read the MFA Adventure Essentials document at: bit.ly/mfa-adventure-essentials
In summary, the following items are essential for the adventure:
1. waterproofs - top and bottom (inexpensive pack-away ones)
2. warm clothes - thermals (base layer), fleece, beanie hat, gloves
3. rucksack and waterproof rucksack cover
4. walking boots (preferably waterproof) and warm socks
Other than these please bring towel and toiletries. All bedding and linen are provided.
2. Food and Groceries
We want to make your stay is comfortable and convenient as possible, so we've made certain arrangements to help you during your visit.
Kitchen Facilities
The fully fitted industrial kitchen is equipped with all the essentials you need to prepare delicious meals, including a wide range of pots, pans, utensils, cutlery, and crockery. It offers plenty of space for everyone to cook comfortably. Additionally, you'll find ample refrigerator and freezer facilities to store your ingredients and keep your food fresh throughout your stay.
Groceries
We'll be ordering groceries as a group, and you're welcome to join in. For only £7.50 per person (calculated £1.50/day), you can enjoy a selection of essential supplies, including bread, milk, eggs, butter/spreads, tea, coffee, sugar, and fruits such as apples, bananas, and mandarins. It's a convenient and cost-effective option to ensure you have the basics covered during your stay.
If you're in the mood for something different, [TOWN 1] is just a 5-minute drive or a 20-minute walk away, where you'll find smaller supermarkets [Tesco Express and Coop], restaurants, and takeaways. And if you're looking for larger supermarkets [Morrisons, Sainsbury’s, Asda], [TOWN 2] is just a 25-minute drive away.
[List Supermarkets]
Please note that there are no halal butchers in the area, but you're welcome to bring frozen meat in a cooler box from home or purchase it from cities closer to the [NAME], such as Preston, Leeds, and Bradford.
Breakfast and Lunch
We recommend having breakfast between 7-8am and preparing packed lunches for your convenience.
Dinner
This is our main meal of the day. You have the option to either bring pre-cooked food and store it in the fridge/freezer or bring ingredients to cook at the hostel. Additionally, there's a Turkish halal takeaway in Ambleside called Mama Mia Pizzeria and Grill. They deliver to the hostel.

Snacks
Don't forget to bring snacks for the outdoors, such as nuts, fruits, cereal bars, protein bars, and chocolate!

4. Adventure Mindset and Guidelines
Welcome to the adventure of a lifetime! We are all in this together, so please relax and enjoy the journey. An adventure is an exciting and uplifting experience that takes us out of our comfort zones and helps us discover new things about ourselves. It's a journey of self-discovery that we'll take together as a team.
Although there may be difficulties, discomfort, and obstacles along the way, we will face them head on and overcome them together. By doing so, we'll develop confidence, resilience, and positive attitudes that will stay with us long after the adventure is over.
So let's have an adventure mindset and embrace every challenge with joy and celebration! We are here to help and support each other, just like a big family. If you need anything, don't hesitate to ask. And please take a moment to read through the Adventure Guidelines attached below, so we can all stay safe and have a great time.
